1938 Zenith Cube Radio 5S218 Gorgeous DesirableHere is the most collectable of the zenith cube style radios, the 5s218. This radio has been expertly re-finished by me using the best grain filler and lacquers and toned accurately. This model came originally in a light colored finish even though the top and front used mahogany veneer. It was re-finished, and accurately so, to show this lighter finish with black lacquered feet. The grill cloth and knobs are original and the black dial is an accurate re-production. Many of the original black dials from this model had either burn spots or burn holes in them because they sat too close to the pilot lights. In restoring it i provided more heat venting to the dial assembly and installed small teflon heat shields between the pilot lights and dial. The chassis has been fully restored by an expert and plays well on both hte broadcast and short wave band with an external antenna. There were no repairs necessary to the cabinet before re-finishing and the radio is a gorgeous exapmle of this desirable model. As with all antique electronics it is sold as is. Shipping to usa only.
