Antique Vintage 1942 Philco Bakelite Tube RadioThis auction is for a restored antique or vintage 1942 philco transitone bakelite tube radio model 42-pt91. A beautiflu tabletop set with rich and stunning bakelite swirling, a true philco classic measuring about 9 3/4 long x 6 tall x 5 3/4 deep. This is a restored and working radio ready to display and enjoy. All acpacitors have been replaced, all out of tolerance resistors replaced, and all tubes were tested and replaced if found to be weak. A new line cord has also been added to replace the unsafe and crumbling original.
Lastly, the set was alignde as per the original manufacturers specs. The cabinet is a beautiful chocolate colored bakelite with a wonderful mirror like quality displaying deep but rich swirling and patterning with no cracks or chips. Philco's bakelite sets have some of the most beautfiul bakelite swirling found in tube radios. What you are looking at is the original hand polished bakelite with all of its natural qualities and textures still retained. Unlike other sellers, i do not use sprays, lacquers or oils. Each of my radios are hand polished by me, investing significant time and attention to every detail to bring you a set worth displaying and enjoying for years to come. The rippling that you see in the top of the set is only the reflection of my backdrop. The set comes with the original philco back, which is not something that you see no restored radios these days. Most sellers opt for reproduction backs or worse, nothing at all. Knobs are not original to the set but are original 1940's knobs that can be found on some other philco models. They play nicely off of the overall design of the set.
Dial scale is metal with no flaking. Classic transiotne color combos consisting of brown and ivory with a hint of gold. All shiedled by a scratch free plastic dial lens, all numbers are bright and easy to read and are warmily illuminated when the set is on. Overall beautiful condition, making it a sure conversation starter that's ready to display and enjoy in your home or office. Shipping. All items are packaged professionally and securely by me, and delivered to your front door via usps priority mail, with delivery confirmation. I will also pay for insurance out of my own pocket.
