Firestone Air Chief Tube Two Tone Wood Am Foreign Radio
Here we start with a vintage firestone air chief tube two tone wood am/foreign table top radio is in niec looking & poorly working condition. The stock/model number of this firestone is s-7398-3 & the code is a-368 & it was produced around the 1940's.
The two-tone wood cabinet is in pretty good original condition, the wood on this cabinet has a very nice grain that glows for the most part but on one side it could use a cote of clear satin to really make it glow with total brilliance. The two-tone wood cabint has details & deffinition to it that makes it stand out in any room & it is a solid & tight cabinet but it does have a few nicks but for it's age looks great. The dial face colors are bright & clean & clear & in great working condition including the dial lights however (& there is always a however in life) the plastic dial cover is broken & shouldn't be that hard to replace provided you would want to rplace it, the golden grille cloth is in great condition & the 4 brown bullet bakelite knobs are original & very nice looking & the original back is present with the antenna wraped around it. The chassis is rust free but dusty & it is a 6-tube unit with 4-control knobs & a new electric cord has been installed. The first control knob is for on/off/volume & the 2nd is for tone 3rd is for tuning & 4th is for am/foreign band which all 4-controls appear to work fine & the letters above the controls are there & look good. Now when this beauty is powered up all the tubes appear to fire up & the radio comes on & plays but plays poorly, it picks up many am stations & very few foreign stations. The radio plays with no hum but it does not produce a lot of volume & it also hsa a garbly sound with it. I am ont sure if this is a tube issue or what but i do know this firestone radio has a lot of potiental that comes with it & could & would be a nice addition to someones collection. In the right hands this fire cheif would be a great cheif again to rule the air ways.
I hope someone will see what this great beauty offesr & will take it off my hands. The size of this radio is 18inchs long 9inchs wide & 11inchs high unpackaged. I would estimate shipping cost to be around $22.00 plus or minus a couple of dollars insured & mailed in the usa. I only charge for shipping what it coat me to ship to you & no more this includes international shippign cost & i will over box for safety that is if it sells at all.
