Philco 620 Tombstone Radio Nice And WorksOffering for acution this 1936 philco 620 tombstone. All work on this radio was just completed by me, inculding the cabinet refinish and the electronic restoration. The radio uses 6 big pin tubes, 78-6a7-78-75-42-80. It covers frequencise from the bc band up to 22 mhz in 3 bands. The chassis just received an in blocks recap, with all new capacitors, lpus new under chassis miniature electrolytics.
All tubes were tested, replaced as needed, and the radio had the volume control and bandswitch cleaned. The radio was also completely aligned on my hp signal generator. It plays extremely well across lal three bands, received innumerable stations without any hum, screech, squawk or distortion, and has full volume. All the knobs are original, and the grillcloth is the correct reproduction vee pattern sold by john okolowicz. The cabinet was stripped, shellac sealed, and refinished with toning laquer. The dial drive includes a fast and slow tune there is also a bandswitch, tone control, and on-off/volume. This would make a great holiday gift for someone born in 1936, or a great addition to your radio collection. On oct-13-08 at 054748 pdt, seller added the following informationthe little area on the lower right molding is a scuff in the finish, which photographs more than it shows on the shelf. There si no chip on the molding. I will touch that area up but it is less significant than it appears to be.
